What is a Squeeze Page?

Definition:
A squeeze page is a web page that carries one single objective. Normally, this is to build a mailing list through an opt-in form.
The squeeze page is usually where marketers attempt to send all new traffic to their site. Purchased advertising, like pay-per-click, allows the landing page to be chosen, so frequently these clicks (visitors) are sent directly to squeeze pages instead of to sales pages.
Search traffic, in contrast cannot be directed to a specific page. There is a general feeling among online marketers that squeeze pages generate better long term profits and sending visitors directly to sales pages although this can depend on the industry and the quality of the squeeze page.
A squeeze page is effective because it has just one purpose. Links and other content are usually limited or non-existent. This reduces distractions for readers and helps them focus on the offer that you are making. Readers need to weigh carefully the cost and benefit relationship you are offering. Usually a high value newsletter is offered in exchange for the reader providing their email address. Email marketing is a great way to build your online business.
In order to increase opt-in rates, many marketers will offer incentives in return for an email subscription. These incentives can include e-books, videos, audio or trial access to a software application. These incentives are almost always offered for free.
Also Known As: landing page

Easy Ways to Monetize Your Blog or Website

The Internet has provided additional opportunities to build or expand a business online. Further, it has created many new methods by which money can be made through an online business, whether you’re blogging about gardening, promoting your freelance business or selling your homemade wares, you can add additional income options to your online presence.                                                                                                   These monetization methods are free and easy to implement.                                                    Contextual Advertising;                                                                                           Contextual advertising are ads fed to your website or blog based on the content on your site. If your website or blog is about gardening, the ads fed to your site will be about gardening, as well. You are paid a small fee each time a visitor to your site clicks on one of the ads.
Once you sign up, running ads involves creating the ad you want including type (i.e. text, graphic or video), size and color, and then copying and pasting the code onto your website or blog’s text (HTML) editor where you want the ad to appear. While some programs allow you to join and start running ads right away, others will want to know more about your site, such as the number of unique visitors you have a month before approving you. When you join an ad feed program, read the terms of service carefully to avoid violating any rules. Google in particular isn’t very forgiving if you mess up. Most rules state that you can’t click on the links on your site or ask your visitors to click on your links.
Here a few of contextual ad programs you can check out:
Affiliate Programs;
The advantage to affiliate programs versus contextual advertising is that you have more control over the offers your readers see. Affiliate marketing is basically referral marketing. For example, if you want to recommend a book to your site visitors, you can join Amazon’s Associate’s Program, get a coded link to the book and post it on your site. If a visitor buys the book through your link, you get a commission.
Affiliate programs pay in a variety of ways including percentage of the sale, flat rate, or per action (i.e. a lead). You can sign up for affiliate programs through networks, such as Conversant (formally Commission Junction) or find programs through affiliate directories. Many websites run their own affiliate programs, as well.
Similar to contextual advertising, some affiliate programs allow you to sign up and start promoting products right away, while others will want to check out your site first. You’ll also want to read the terms of service as many affiliate programs have restrictions on how you can use and run the ads. For example, some don’t want you to email affiliate links.
Running ads requires choosing an ad option provided by the affiliate vendor, and then copying and pasting the ad code into the text editor (HTML) of your site where you want the ad to run.
Affiliate programs are everywhere, but here are a few places you can get started:
Conversant (formally Commission Junction)
Sell Ad Space Directly;                                                                                                   While you can post a contextual ad or affiliate product offers into ad spots on your website and hope a visitor will click or buy, you can also sell the space directly to advertisers. This method works best if you have traffic to show an advertiser his ad will get seen. To sell ad space, you need to decide what spots are available, such as the header, sidebars or part of the content. Create an advertising page that gives your site statistics, ad spots and prices. Advertisers can pay through PayPal for easy payment processing.Another option to selling ads is to sell content space through sponsored posts. In a sponsored post, you write or the sponsor writes an article and pays you to run it. This method has some drawbacks in that readers sometimes feel paid content compromises the credibility of the website. Further, Google doesn’t like paid posts and might penalize you for running it.
Sell Your Own Products;                                                                                                   You can get paid a percentage of the sale from affiliate marketing, but you earn 100 percent of the sale from products you create and sell on your site. Creating your own products is the natural progression for bloggers, who end up with lots of content on their site that they can then gather and edit into an ebook. But bloggers aren’t the only ones who can create products. A freelance writer, selling his services through a website, can also create an ebook to teach others how to freelance write.
Ebooks aren’t the only option for creating products. You can develop courses, videos, and software as well. If you don’t want to create the content yourself, you can purchase private label rights (PLR) and repurpose it to fit your style. Easier still, you can buy master resale rights (MRR) to products and sell it as-is (terms of use usually prevent you from changing MRR material).
The important thing to remember when monetizing your website or blog is that the offers need to match the topic of your site. You don’t want to sell automotive parts if your site is about gardening. Further, you want to make sure the products and services being promoted on your site are of good quality. Your reputation and credibility will take a hit if you subject your readers to sub quality services.

Smashwords Self-Publishing Platform..

Smashwords: An Overview of Smashwords Self-Publishing Platform..

Smashwords Offers Flexible E-Book Self-Publishing
About Smashwords
Smashwords launched its e-book publishing platform in February, 2008, spearheaded by entrepreneur and then-wannabe novelist, Mark Coker.
With Smashwords, the author is considered to be the publisher. And, unlike some other e-book self-publishing services, due to Coker's frustrating experience with traditional publishing routes, Smashwords allows its authors a great measure of control over pricing, and over access to the work. To exploit the Smashwords service to the fullest also requires that the author to take a measure of responsibility over the quality of the work that is uploaded to the service, as well as other aspects of the process.

Anyone thinking of taking the time and effort to self-publish a book should consider all factors. To that end, here's an idea of some of Smashword's features.

  • Editorial & Design Services - Smashwords doesn't offer editorial services for the book's content, or design guidance for the creation of the work. Those seeking book editing, copyediting, proofreading (typical pre-production quality assurance checks), or a service for (virtual) book jacket creation assistance must seek it elsewhere.
  • Upload/Page Creation - Smashwords provides extensive, well-crafted, and thorough instructions for document formatting to ensure successful e-book downloading. The Smashwords blog allows existing authors to give fellow Smashwords self-publishers hints and tips to help make their experience better.
  • Smashwords Book Format - Via its "meatgrinder," Smashwords takes an uploaded Word document and creates files that are compatible with a variety of e-reader formats and other readable formats, such as EPUB, LRF, .PDB, HTML, .Mobi, etc.
  • Book Cost/Pricing - There are no upfront charges; books are paid for by the reader, when the e-book is downloaded. The author chooses the price for his or her own book, and Smashwords earns revenue by taking a 15% commission on all net sales. If a book is purchased via one of the major online retailers Smashwords distributes to, the author's earnings are 60% of the suggested list price he or she determines. Smashwords distribution commission is only 10% of the list price for sales through retailers.
  • Book Distribution and Marketing - Smashwords makes its authors' qualifying e-books available via its "Premium Catalog" to Apple iBookstores, bn.com, Sony, the Diesel eBook Store, Kobo (and Chapters.ca, WH Smith and FNAC powered by Kobo). To qualify, there are requirements for formatting quality (such as having a cover image, an ISBN, and a copyright page), to ensure appropriate presentation in those retail venues. All Smashwords books are made available in the native catalogs of e-reading apps such as Stanza, Aldiko, FBReader and Word-Player and Atom/OPDS Catalog, which reaches major mobile app platforms. There are plans to distribute with Amazon via their Kindle Direct Platform.
  • Smashwords documentation reinforces the importance of marketing one's book, and provides marketing support via free downloadable documents (such as "Smashwords Book Marketing Guide"). The company also allows authors (or the author's administrator) to distribute copies of its books free of charge to reviewers or the media.
  • Proprietary Advantages - The favorable economics of dealing with Smashwords over some other e-book self-publishing services makes them appealing. In addition to individual authors, Smashwords encourages the collaboration of publishers with a list of more than one client (that is, publishers other than "self" publishers), as well as agents whose clients' backlist books or out-of-print titles are available for e-book format.
Visit the Smashwords website.

If you've self-published your own book, feel free to submit a review of Smashwords or any other self-publishing service. Or read reviews of other authors' self-publishing experiencesor about Amanda Hocking's paranormal self-publishing success story.

How To Format A Book for Paperback with CreateSpace Publishing

How to Format Your Book for Publication

Sell Your Own Ad Space Directly to Advertisers!!

Sell Your Own Ad Space Directly to Advertisers

You can attempt to sell your own ad space directly to advertisers, but unless your blog is established with a sizable audience, it can be difficult to manage and make money selling ad space directly.  Fortunately, there are sites like BuySellAds.com that link online publishers (like bloggers) up with online advertisers to make selling your ad space easier.

1.  Advertising

Including advertisements on your blog is the most obvious way to derive an income from your blogging efforts. Ads can come in the form of text links or banner ads, and advertising options are available that you can easily tap into through pay-per-click, pay-per-post and affiliate programs online.Google AdSenseAmazon Associates,eBay Affiliates and Pay-Per-Post are just a few of the most common advertising programs available to bloggers.

2.  Merchandise

Another simple way to monetize your blog is by selling merchandise through a service such as CafePress www.CafePress.com who will work with you to create custom items for you to sell through your blog.

3.  Reviews
Bloggers can make money by reviewing products, events, businesses and more through blog posts.

4.  Ebooks

A great way to bring in some revenue on your blog is by writing an ebook and offering it for sale through your blog.                                                                                                   Ebooks are particularly successful for bloggers who are experts in their fields and advertise their ebooks as additional or exclusive information just for readers of their blogs.
Definition: An eBook is an online version of a book. Usually much shorter in the number of pages when compared to a traditional printed and bound book.
EBooks are useful as they can contain bookmarks that make it easy to jump to specific sections, they may contain colorful illustrations, they can contain active links to websites and you can print only the pages you want.
EBooks can be published for a fraction of the cost of publishing a traditional book they are typically far less expensive to buy than a traditional paper back or hard cover book.
In many cases, eBooks are offered free as a form of business promotion.
Most ebooks that are available on websites are published in PDF format. PDF format is very popular because Adobe Reader and other software that provides the ability to open PDF documents is now typically included on every computer sold and PDF's can easily be read on both Windows PCs and Macs. PDF eBooks therefore make it easy to open and read the material without needing to download any software or have any special hardware, such as an eBook reader.                                                                                                               Many readers find eBooks to be more convenient than bound books, especially for information that changes frequently. The time to publish eBooks can be as little as a few minutes once the content is properly formatted. There for, eBook publishers can distribute updated versions easily and inexpensively.                                                                    Selling eBooks online is one type of home business that is popular with those who want to generate income from the Internet while working from home.                                     Because eBooks are transmitted electronically, there is no need to carry a physical inventory of books for sale.
5.  Donations
You can easily set up a donation button through PayPal. Just sign up for a PayPal account and follow the simple instructions on the PayPal Donations web pages to obtain the code that will link to your PayPal account. Next, you'll simply copy and paste the code into your blog (most people do this in an easy way by putting it on the blog's sidebar so it appears on as many pages as possible).
Once the code is inserted in your blog, the donation button will appear automatically. When a reader clicks on the donation button on your blog, they'll be taken to your personal PayPal donation page. Whatever money they donate, will be deposited directly into the bank account you chose during your set up process through PayPal.
It's important to understand that a donation button is not likely to bring much revenue, but it's simple enough to add to your blog that it's worth the few minutes of effort it takes to get it up and running.
